What a paradox. We often admire the vulnerability of others while we see the same vulnerability within us as weakness. And, while we’re conditioned to compare our stress with the burdens we perceive in others, the truth is, we are all so individual with our own ways of filtering our life events, both big and small.
Stress looks different for everyone – it takes on different forms, it moves and changes like the seasons. At times, our personal thresholds may be weaker than in other seasons in our life, but, ultimately, our stress is not meant to be endured. Stress is a sign to stop, to take a look at our stressors, and to find ways to help it move. Even when stressors (like the sickness of a loved one, for example) cannot be changed, it might be possible to bring support to the areas of the body that are holding the stress. This is where Body Talk can help. Body Talk can be used as a stand alone tool in supporting our thresholds. Body Talk can be also be a great support for other forms of stress relief (i.e. exercising, having that cup of tea, taking a deep breath, calling a friend, attending a prayer meeting, etc.) Body Talk will meet you where you’re at. Ultimately, our stress is still our stress. So, maybe it’s time to give attention to our vulnerability and to accept the hand that is reaching out.
