BodyTalk is a gentle process that combines principles from many healing modalities, both ancient and new, into an integrated form that works with our own body’s healing mechanisms. These principles include acupuncture, Chinese medicine, yoga, kinesiology, psychology, and physiology, to name a few.
Our body already knows how to heal itself, however, our lives tend to be very stressful and we do not allow enough time for rest and relaxation in order for our bodies to rejuvenate and heal. Numerous studies have shown that stress, in many forms, is a key indicator in developing illness and disease. Stress causes the nervous system to switch into ‘high alert’ mode. This is a healthy response, at first. However, our body needs time to rest and recover and without this, miscommunication within the Body/Mind can occur, and can develop into illness and disease if not dealt with.
BodyTalk helps the body to recover from stress by using neuromuscular testing, a form of muscle testing, to assess the areas of the body/mind that need to be focused upon first. These may be physical, emotional, and/or mental in nature. For example, areas in our body where we hold our emotions, patterns in our behavior that are limiting our potential, physical aches and pains, thought patterns that affect decision making, or past experiences that we can’t let go of, can be sources of stress. Once these areas are perceived, gentle tapping techniques are implemented to highlight areas where there is a lack of communication. This focuses the nervous system and immune system to bring the Body/Mind out of emergency mode so that natural healing processes can resume. When your body communicates, it can heal itself!
